Scholarships

Each year, Finance and Commercial Law majors and minors are invited to apply for various scholarships available to all business students through the Office of Student Development. In addition, there are a number of scholarships that are available solely for FCL students.

The qualifications and conditions associated with scholarships follow:

Charles C. and Lynn Zhang and Associates Scholarships

  • Two scholarship awards
  • Undergraduate BBA with Finance major
  • Awarded to a Junior and Senior level student with the highest cumulative GPA, and by the recommendation of the Chair.
  • Academic based award
  • Maintain a minimum course load of 12 credit hours
  • Award Amount: $500 for each awardee at the end of Spring semester
Chubb Group of Insurance Companies Scholarship
  • Minimum GPA 3.00 for consideration
  • Junior/Senior BBA student with Finance Major
  • Extra curricular activities considered
  • Need based award
  • Preference shall be given to students from under-represented ethnic groups
  • Maintain a minimum course load of 12 credit hours while receiving scholarship
  • Award Amount: $1,000 for Fall or Spring

Cinq-Mars Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA 3.00 for consideration
  • Entering Junior year
  • Undergraduate BBA with Finance major
  • Extra curricular activities at WMU considered
  • Need based award
  • Must have solid history of prior work experiences, especially during previous semesters enrolled at WMU
  • Award Amount: $2,500 per semester for Fall & Spring during Junior and Senior years (total scholarship $10,000 over the 4 semesters)
Cinq-Mars Jarvis Scholarship
  • Minimum GPA 3.00 for consideration
  • Entering Junior year
  • Undergraduate BBA with Finance major
  • Extra curricular activities at WMU considered
  • Need based award
  • Must have solid history of prior work experiences, especially during previous semesters enrolled at WMU
  • Award Amount: $1,250 per semester for Fall & Spring during Junior and Senior years (total scholarship $5,000 over the 4 semesters)
Edwin Grossnickle Scholarship
  • Undergraduate BBA student with Finance Major
  • Incoming Junior level
  • Full-time student
  • Awarded for Fall semester tuition only
  • Not a need-based award
  • $1,000 one-time tuition award (not renewable)

Greenleaf Asset Management Scholarships

  • Awarded to 2 first-year full-time undergraduate students in pre-business who intend to major in Finance
  • Preference shall be given to students from under-represented ethnic groups
  • Declared Finance Majors by their Junior year to retain the scholarship
  • Maintenance of 2.50 cumulative GPA to retain award
  • $8,000 per year
  • The scholarships shall pay for all educational expenses directly associated with attending WMU
  • The scholarships will be distributed throughout the academic year, half during the Fall semester and half during the Spring semester
  • Renewable annually for a total of 4 years
Magellan Scholarship
  • Undergraduate BBA - Minimum GPA 3.00 for consideration
  • Graduate MBA - Minimum GPA 3.30 for consideration
  • Business students participating in study abroad program or participating in an international business seminar
  • Need based award
  • $500 for Fall or Winter (non-renewable)
McCarty Morrison Scholarship
  • Minimum GPA 3.00 for consideration
  • Senior BBA student
  • Must be planning to attend Law School (preference for Big 10 Law School)
  • $500 for Fall (non-renewable)

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Exams Scholarships
