Admissions Process and Criteria

The MBA program at WMU uses a rolling admissions process such that US Residents can apply any time throughout the year.  We can process your application as late as two weeks prior to a semester start. Students are, however, encouraged to apply early.

International applicants need to apply in accordance with the following schedule.

No matter which campus you plan to attend, the application process is basically the same. 

  1. Submit the application form and processing fee.
    1. U.S. Residents should use the online application.
    2. International applicants should use the international student application
    3. Note that all International applicants should work closely with our Office of International Student Services. Please refer to International Services and Student Affairs for more information.
  2. Submit official transcripts.
  3.  
    • Request each institution, except WMU, send two official transcripts:
      • send one to Western Michigan University, Office of Admissions, 1903 W Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49008-5211;
      • send one to the Office of Advising and Admissions, Haworth College of Business, 2130 Schneider Hall, Kalamazoo, MI 49008-5411.
  4. Submit one of the following items:
    • Official GMAT scores, or
    • Evidence of a prior Graduate Degree from an accredited US University, or
    • Resume and letter requesting GMAT waiver based on seven years of extensive management experience.
  5. For International applicants, submit TOEFL scores and the other materials required by the Office of International Student Services. Please refer to International Services and Student Affairs for more information.

Criteria

Admissions decisions are based on the following factors.

  1. Completion of an undergraduate bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 2.50 for the last two years of study. Undergraduate degrees from all disciplines are accepted.
  2. One of the following:
    • GMAT Score: For GMAT information, please visit the mba.com web site, or
    • A professional graduate degree from an accredited U.S. program, or
    • A minimum of seven years of extensive management experience and a solid undergraduate GPA.
  3. For International applicants, TOEFL scores will also be evaluated.
Work experience is recommended but not required for admission.
